Hello everyone. I was happy to find a SVO Club with a forum. I found a 86 SVO by accident about a month ago. I was talking to a friend and he told me about it, so I went and looked it up and left a note for them to call me. The car has been wrecked but is repairable. He called me back and told me he was asking for $500. I told him to consider it sold. So now it is sitting in front of my house with a tarp over the drivers side untill I can get it into my shop. Should go in in about a week. It needs a left door and a partial quarter panel and some minor structure work. The guy I bought it from asked me if I was going to part it out. I told him no. I almost said HELL NO. Yes I did read the boycott list. I agree that no rare cars should ever be parted out or in any way destroyed unless there are no other options. A few months ago the owner of a local salvage yard was getting to ready to crush about a hundred cars and asked me if I wanted the 84 turbo coupe sitting on the top. So I now have that too. No title and really beat so I will probably have to part it out, but at least the parts are now safe. I digress. Love the SVO and can't wait to get it in operating condition. Drove it home. Runs really good. Only 86,000 miles and hasn't been licensed since the wreck in '96. I may find a lot of other problems since it has been sitting for so long.
Sorry about the long post.

That's a cool story. Make sure you add it to our registry.
Look around the site, check out the pics from the recent Reunion (yes -- they are up!!), and plan to attend in 06 -- there is nothing like a SVO reunion! -- it's way more than any old car show I've ever been to.
feel free to ask questons, but it's always a good idea to check out the search button first. A lot of topics have been covered in the several years this forum has been up.

Thanks for the reponse.
The car is black and the paint is in decent condition except for the parts that are wrinkled, torn or otherwise destroyed. I used to be a body man so the damage doesn't scare me. Options? It seems to have everthing. Not sure what was normal standard equipment on the SVO. The brakes are bad due to age and it could use a tune up and some new fuel. I will need a new left rear fender flair. Is there an aftermarket source for these items.
Thanks for the invite to the SVO reunion I will try to attend.
Thanks for the info.
PS - I also have a 79 turbo mustang and an 88 vert that is begging to have a turbo 4.

Welcome, The flare is actually called a "spat" in SVO language. Please give Paul at SVPU a call as he has them in fiberglass repo. If you send him an e-mail please put SVO in the title so he can sort from that term. Looking forward to some pics also...

Welcome.
If the sticker on the driver's door is still there and legible, transfer it to the new door. It has the interior, exterior, etc. codes on it.
