  • Serpentine drive-belt conversion

After running with the unsightly accessory drive belts on my 86' for a number of years, I've decided to do the serpentine drive belt conversion. Has anyone here done this conversion or know where I can get information on the process. I'd like to find out part numbers for pulleys, tensioners, brackets, and belts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If I get enough information to start the project, I'd be glad to write-up the process after I complete it.

My car? I've had it since 93'. 2nd owner, Canyon Red (?)

    - Major long-block rebuild in 96' by PowerTrain Dynamics in Huntington Beach, CA. All the good stuff, forged rods, pistons, crank, etc...

    - Dyno-runs put me at 270-280 with stock turbo... now for the hybrid turbo and intercooler

besides the fact that it makes it ALOT easier to remove and install the ONE belt with a pry on the belt tensioner? I think it lowers vibrations as well...but the easier access it the main benefit.

And MANY of the members have 'been there, done that'. There is a BIG pool of information here, with many members being owners of multiple SVOs.

You should be able to use the accessories and mounts off any Serpintine drive Mustang also. The 91-up stuff looks different, cause of the Aluminum brackets, but should fit. The only differences are the alternator (different wiring, but older style will fit in the newer brackets) and AC compresser (it's a different style).

Well anyway, I'm using a '92 block with all '92 accessories. If it don't work, I'll let ya know.
