  • Exhaust leak?

I now have a completely welded system, from turbo to tailpipe, and I still have a very bad exhaust smell from inside my '86 svo. Had the last sectional system replace hoping to solve this problem (needed to be replaced anyhow - had that non-fitting 3" downpipe that hit all the speed bumps). Have to drive windows up and vent on to help - is there anything I'm missing? Doesn't seem to be, but maybe someone out there has run into the same problem... Thanks...

Could it be something like a busted EGR or leaking / badly cracked ex manifold..?

Is it worse in the rear or front on the car..?

Let the car idle and have someone block tailpipes with something like a rag and if there are any leaks all the way to the exhaust manifold, you'll hear it pissing out. Try to do it quick and with the car cold for maximum separation in the pipes if there is any...my standard leak check for .02$

        Thanks all!

I found almost 1/4" gap in the rear hatch on the drivers side between the weatherstripping and the hatch, I'll get right on it - thanks for the help! Joe

p.s. - I'll still do the leak check after the gap is fixed... Thanks!
