One problem seems to always seems to come up is the brass/metal type gasket between the turbo and the manifold always seems to "blow out" between the studs on the top.
I'm either assembling incorrectly or using the wrong nuts...see other thread.
most people have gone gasketless in that location. They came stock with no gasket there, and as long as both mating surfaces are flat, it should seal up good.
Why the big urge to go gasket-less? Save weight? I've never had a problem there and have re-used those gaskets more than ten times (too lazy to walk over to the drawer and pull out a new one).
I would continue to use a gasket just to isolate the different materials and keep them from gaulling each other.
I guess because I keep blowing out the gaskets. Probably because of the wrong type fasteners (see my other thread).
I'll give it another try with the right fasteners with the gasket and see how it goes.
you should use a gasket there. I have problems a couple of times with gaskets blowing out. But it was because the turbo/manifold bolts were backing off. Torq them down good and you should not have a problem.
Try a non copper metal gasket. I've never had any luck with copper gaskets sealing up. After I replace them with the exact same gasket, but out of stainless, everything seals up fine.
