When doing a drag strip launch my SVO bucks failry violently when it gets up around 4500 rpm (right where it should be sweet) --its driving me crazy--I can't figure out why. The only thing i have yet to replace is the coil and rotor and distributor cap. My goal is 300 hp and I think I have the mechanicals for it but something is not set up right. Any ideas? I really love this car but am about crazy with frustration. The car is trimmed out thus: I have a full 3" exhaust, .63 trim, manual boost controller (18 psi), ATR header( jet coated), ported polished head with oversize valves, high rate valve springs, automotosports roller cam, matched 35lb fuel injectors, manually adjustable fuel pressure regulator, adjustable cam timing, and a cold air kit. I have a new VAM, new ISC, and new TPS. Are the 35# injectors up to the task--is she fuel starved? Would a new ignition system be the next best bet? I'm grasping at straws guys--

I'm using autolite plugs that are one step colder than the stock plugs and it has brand new autolite premium wires. By the end of today it will have a new motorcraft distributor cap and rotor however I thought I would go with an after market coil--suggestions? The plugs are gapped at .035. I dialed up the fuel pressure in hopes of getting some more fuel into the cylinders to see if it would help the problem--my understanding was that the stock pressure at idle was 45psi. I could live with a rich idle if it ran right at the top end. The turbo is stock except for the .63 housing. I see you are at Ft. Benning. Are you military--I'd be more than willing to drive it down there just to get somebody elses driving impressions.

A stock coil will be more than enough to handle the load. Save your money on an aftermarket coil and just go with a factory one. Unless it is leaking oil, it, too, should also be okay.

(as suggested) Stock replacement coil should more than enough.
Factory fuel pressure is 38 psi (pretty sure) - not 45.
(as suggested) lower your plug gag....say 28-32 range.
I'm not active Military (but I am prior service) .
If you want a someone to 'fix' your SVO - I can only suggest two people that's within reason as far as traveling distance from you - Ryan Cloud and Ty Burgin. They're located in Alabama (just outside of B/ham). About 4 - 4 1/2 hours from you. Easiest would be to email Ty (he's a Board of Director for the club as well) - SVOTy@aol.com and ask for their services.
They very fair/reasonable with their labor and very capable of fixing your SVO for you. You might have to bring it down one weekend - and come pick it up at a later date though.
