  • What is this thing?

The car is an '86 the "thing" in question is in the engine compartment and covered in a black rubber sheath,it has a vacume line attached to one end and a 2 wire plug attached to the other. When you pull back the rubber sheathing the actuall color of the part is blue. What the heck is this thing? I have had 4 SVO's and have never figured out what this joker is(never asked either). Thanks guys.

Sounds like the little switch thingie (I have never heard a technical name for this thing) that sends more voltage to the fuel pump when youi are "in the throttle"

is this the first 86 SVO you have had ??? because it is on all 86's, and i believe it is also on 85.5's. 84's, and 85's didn't have them.

Some people do cut them off, and wire them straight through, so that you get full voltage to the fuel pump all the time.

yea .. usually it is stuck down around the brake master cyl, and it's not easy to find, unless you are looking for it..
