  • Anyone ever thought of this?

X3 on the spare. I never have liked the look of skinnies on any street driven car.

There are a few folks here who drag race their SVO. Most of us are in it for road racing / auto-X. I think skinnys up front depend on the car. I like the look of the old altereds with the solid front econoline axle. I would like to have a Willys coupe, either a 33 or a 40, set up that way. I've also seen an old Falcon / Futura set up drag car style and I liked it. It made the ground shake as it went by... Here's one of my favorite Willys sites. www.willysreplacementparts.com

Your buddy should have "phototubbed" the rear too!
(Better to have done that with a picture rather than the real thing)

Here's my $.02, I've been dragracing since the late 80's & there are some things that I just didn't like the looks of.. One of them was the skinnies on the front.. I like lots of tire out back.. As for a street car, I personaly seen quite a few accidents involving skinnies on the front.. TRUST ME when I say that the car does not stop well at all.. Your face does this when you are trying to avoid/stop.. Not for the street IMO.. Again it is up to the owner..

Probably, but definatly with differnt wheels. I was gonna go with that look for something different, but couldn't localy find a set of used 5-lug drag lites at a good price.

I like the way my Weld prostars look on these cars. The skinnys aren't that bad if your just cruzing around town, but I definatly will not drive any distance with them.

i've thought about it and sort of did it, i made SVO wheels into 17 x 9.5 and always wanted to do skinnies up front. BTW is that photoshop pic?

as for skinnies on a road car ...i think your be ok if your run a tire with tread not some bald track tire and drive safely.

Well I guess I come from different stock than you guys!I love the big and little look.My Ranger has 15x3 and 15x8.5 Centerlines on it from March till Nov. and my old daily driver 89 5.0LX had the same setup on it and I drove it ALL YEAR long, snow and all,140 miles round trip to work 5-6 days a week and loved it.I have never had a hard time trying to stop my cars or my truck with skinnys, heck my truck does the quarter at 111mph and I have no issues stopping it at my crap local track.

If my buddy comes through with making a set for real like he wants to I will use them for sure for a few trips to the track if for no other reason than to see if anyone picks it out.

Picture my car in the above picture with those wheels on it for real, with 90/10's,50/50's on it,8.8 rear, and at least a 400hp 2.3 under the hood......looks stock...until its hanging the fronts 6" in the air!

                            Brian,
I am with you....Love the skinnies up front. And your right, when the car is 6" in the air larger tires just block the view of the frame. LOL

I kinda dig on th photochop there.

It would a hellova lot better if the motor was in ( ie: compressed suspension.)
