don't open it - the bucket. you'll never get it back together correctly.
You can do a couple of things to prevent the water.
First, remove the bucket. by removing the plug from the rear - then the clips, then pull on the mickey-mouse arm.
Allow bucket to dry (completely).
Now - here's the ideas that have worked on my past 86s (and ideas I'm seen others use).
1. The plug itself. It has a foam type washer/gasket in it (or it's suppose to) that seals it to the bucket. Try making a secondary (thicker) gasket. Get an old Tire innertube. Remove the gasket and use it for your pattern. This is what worked for me. Also - let the original gasket DRY if you re-install it.
2. Apply a clear silicone to the edges of the bucket - sparingly
3. Drill some drainage holes on the bottom-side of the bucket.
