  • Drag slick fitment

Does anybody know what the biggest width drag slick that will fit an unmodified wheel weel on a '84 SVO?

I was told that a 26"x10.5" on a 15"x8" rim with 5.5" of backspacing should fit. I am ready to buy a set, but if this is too big it would be good to know before I make my purchase.

    Thanks!

Man that guys' SVO is FAST! Especially considering how little he did to the car! Maybe there is hope for mine yet!

      Thanks for the post!

He can't be running pump gas. Must be 110 or something.
I was impressed though how fast it was.

Hey guys I just found this now..

First off thanks! and second, NO WAY on the pump gas. I was using sunoco "supreme" which is 112 octane I think [leaded]. PUmp gas/high boost is very impressive, but with the first mods being "unplug the knock sensor", I refuse to run boost up high [18 PSI or more] w/o good gas. I'm not that brave lol.

Oh, as for rims and tires, I run Draglites 15 x 8 x 5.50" backspace, and use 26 x 8.50 x 15" ET Drag, which really would be basically the same size [tread and section width] as MT 26 x 10.50 x 15 ET STREET. INfact I had that exact size ET street on the car before the Drags and they fit nice. Section width was a hair wider, contact patch was same as the 8.50 slick.. You will need minimum of 5.50" backspace on a weld style wheel out back to make a drag tire like I mentioned fit, OR go with Tims setup if you are making BIG power..

I did have to do a little hammering on the inside of the wheel well, not to much as to evern be noticed. When I had the car painted,I rolled the lips of the quarters,it will still work with stock quarters.

A lot of guys use the 26 by 8 or 10,most of the racing in my area requires the 28 by 10.5 so that what I bought.

"Big" power huh, that means your willing to wait for your car to be running after 4 years of work and steedy throwing money at it.I'm pretty sure to it will be running this winter, knee surgery has/will put me behind about 6 months this year.Only a ten point cage and a "new" paint job,and some podwer coating.

                Thanks Tim

Which is why my car will never make "Big" power Tim, I saw your engine compartment pics and my jaw hit the floor... It's been a long time coming and you'll sure as hell deserve it when it all comes together for you!

& paint job? That cars looks NICE just as it is...
