    Ok guys,

    I found a 2.3L SVO Long Block

Crain Roller Cam, "the biggest that will pass smog"

Head has been ported and relieved, Beefy valves and springs, teflon guides.

Bottom end has been balanced and built up.

Motor has not been fired up or installed, fresh rebuild.

    Now the BIG QUESTION??????

    HOW MUCH SHOULD I PAY?

THE MAX I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY?

    Other questions I should ask?

    Thanks,

    Fred

Sorry Fred, But im not sure what type of parts are "beefy" .....whos parts are we talking..? what are the specs..? how much does the stuff cost new..? Who did the work...?

I mean I could ask how much a Lamborghini is worth, but it will depend on a few things ....ya know..?

I just got off the phone with the speed shop,

It has Factory SVO Ford Motor Parts, lower end, Pistons etc.

They estimated about $600.00 plus in parts alone.

They are looking at parts plus time invested in head work.

I'll give more details as I get them.....

Sounds like a stock rebuild bottom end and a lightly cleaned up stock rebuild head. Big words do not mean big bucks. Sure i bet they have some money in it, but why did they build it? And why did the original guy not buy it? I would not expect honest answers abotu this from them. I would also be very concerned about piston selection as everything I have heard is that forged pistons have been pretty tough to find for the past year or so in the "stock" type. I would be afraid of it having "hyper's"

Personaly, if I HAD to spend the money. I would do a ring and bearing job on my old motor and throw the money at a big valve head and cool cam.

I bought the long block 2.3L SVO motor for $1500.00

The mechanic at California Street Machine origanaly built the motor for his Turbo Coupe.

He dropped the Turbo Coupe project soon after he built the motor and moved on to a new project.

Motor will be in my 85.5 SVO by the end of this week.
