  • Torque Thust D

Has anyone run (or test fit) a true American Racing Torque Thrust D? Do they make any that fit the SVO?
I am just not a real fan of the "Bullitt" rim. It's just not the same. Not to knock anyone that has them, it's "just not my bag baby" (Austin Powers voice).

Ken Potter had a set for a 67 Fastback(?) laying around when he was working on his grey car. We test fitted them, but the offset is way off and the tires stick out about 2-3 inches beyond the fender.

Ok, I assume you are talking about the Torque Thrust D IIs on SVO4PWR's car? Thanks, but those are not the same.
I am talking about the SAME style wheel as what went on Steve McQueen's '68 Highland Green Fastback.
They have the black center "spokes" with the outer edge polished.

Mike, I know where you are going with that, but I was just wondering if anyone knew if American Racing has made something in the same old school look, but for the newer bolt pattern and backspacing. Thanks.

          Kurt,

I also tried with the d's that came off my cobra. Same result as was posted above. With the 8" width and 4.5" backspacing, it looked pretty ridiculous. Now if you like the look, there are many individuals (Phil @ PS Engineering) who can make them and weld them up with the specific backspacing and size desired. It cost me about $900 for him to make me special Trigo knock-off rears for my Cobra. It would probably be around $1500 or maybe less for a set of custom Torque D rims. It all depends on how much you wanna spend. But you already knew that didn't you?

P.S. Got released today and come back in tomorrow on the Darkside.LOL

I know Rich made serious modifications to his wheels to fit the tires he wanted. If they now make Torque Thrust's for the '05 Mustang that may be the best place to start.

No they Do Not fit. And you would have a really hard time trying to get them to fit.
1 - they are a one piece cast wheel
2 - they dont come in a high offset
even if you gave them to a custom wheel cutter they would have a real hard time changing the offsett cause of the one piece casting. They could make the wheel wider or narrower, but the offset really wouldnt change when mounted on the car "SVO". A two piece wheel would easier to cut and reweld - then you could change offset - widen - narrow.
