  • Time to suggest a new forum catagory???

After a very pleasent exchange with Dave form Omaha-on the correct paint, and finish on his K member---I reliesed that I spend alot of time, asking and answering question on 428CJ's and Boss on other forums!!

Asking here if we should have a CONCOURS catagory??? Is it needed?
I know most SVO are getting mod'd - but are the people doing restorations out there?

Well as much as i like the idea, IMO we already have the forums to answer such questions.

If someone wants to know about specific SVO part numbers they could ask in any of the forums related to that catagory of part. If someone wanted to know proper fit-ment of an SVO specific part they could also post in the corresponding forum.

For example, if someone wanted to know about the correct paint and finish on the SVO K-Member it would go in the Interior / Body section. If someone wanted to know about correct factory "quality check" markings...they could ask in there as well.

And not to forget the picture forum that contains a lot of pic from NOS goodies.

I guess my question in return would be: What needs to be discussed in a concourse forum, that cant be discussed with our existing frame-work ?

It could clear up any miss information. Relocation an mods would cause an issue to where the true information would stay in one spot.

When I saw the very low mile svo and Ty was talking about where these marks were made on the line as it was built and what color these nuts were was just amaing to me.
There is a mass of great pics to look for and thru on the site but sometimes are hard to find.

It would be just for svo's that never changed. Something I don't have but others do. I won't be able to post anything on it but others can.

        The details of the car.

I could see some concourse info in a sticky at the top
Not sure if it would warrant a whole section

I guess it is the ease of location for the other forums

I guess it is the ease of a "location" for the other forums (Vintage-Mustang. Boss 302, SAAC etc)

Where if someone is restoring car frequent visits to the concours forum yields specific info on assembly, paint daubs & finishes. Rather than browse 6 catagories or search them all.

P.S. Had I not had two requests for photos this week I wouldn't have suggested it. (And I enjoied helping)

well -- I had to move this to the website comments and suggestions forum

I can see a concourse section could be handy, but I havn't seen a lot of people with concourse questions. I'm just afraid it would turn into a dead catagory.

I've seen some forums that are broken down into 50 catagories, it makes navigation harder, and you have a bunch of catagories no one ever posts in. Which is why we try to keep our catagories more wide, to cover more.

Since I have my 10,600 mile 85.5 I have plans to take a boat load of pics to post in the picture forum. Now all I need is a lift and a boat load of time, of which I have neither. Just one of my ever increasing "things to do or finish" list.

I have asked many questions on the this forum in about concourse details. The SVOCA is here to preserve the cars and this forum would allow future folks to return these cars to their former glory. It would also allow the SVOCA to be the reference for show cars in the MCA and other clubs. Sort of a police-thy-self thing. The SVOCA might also get into the "SVOCA approved" business. The cars are not plentiful and hard to find original examples of. The MCA Pensacola show only had 2 SVO's. The years vary greatly and just a break down of the differences would be handy. The car I am currently reworking for Ken had a Tbird engine in it and while I photographed the car thoroughly during disasembly, I still find myself questioning details. If nothing else it could also be a handy place to exchange paintcodes and such for various parts...

I'll step off the soapbox now.
Thanks for listening. I'm just greatful Ken has a serious problem and can't control his urge to buy every low mileage SVO he finds.

Yes I'm glad I have the first 2R here at the house and have used it for a reference as well. I haven't even looked twice at my new one since I got it... I also want to thank you Patrick for all your efforts with the MCA and my blue 86.
