  • Wanted: input, advice and opinions

I just made a trade for a 1987 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. The head gasket is blown. I plan to use the world class T-5 and the 8.8 from this car in my SVO. What I need to know is what to do about the engine. Should I have the T-Bird engine rebuilt and use it or just change the computer and use my 84 engine. My 84 has 79000 miles on it. Tell me what ya'll think.
I learned at the on-track event at the reunion that I've spent too much time and money on trying to make my car look better and not enough on making it go faster.
Any and all input, advice and opinions will be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm....personally at 79 thou she is just fine...hell she is just beginning to be broke in, and dont worry about going fast mate, your car is pretty nice and I think we could go alot faster just by learning how to drive.....

Maybee yank the motor from the T-bird and have it rebuilt when you get the spare change, but i wouldnt swap the whole motor.

If anything just take the comp, the intakes and ( if you dont already have one ) the E6 manifold.

yea.. they are right.. 79k is not high milage for these cars..

I'd keep the TC parts around for tinkering later, but just swap injectors, and computer.

You could swap intakes if you wanted to get wild, but that part is not a big deal.. it won't gain you much performance (if any) But I do think the 85.5 and 86 intakes make things easier to work on.
