  • Hawk's - HP PLUS High Performance Street Plus

I purchased a set of these pads for the track day at Barber's and I'm glad I did. These pads are great for the track. They made it easily though two days of hard braking from 85 - 90 mph to make turns 1, 5, and 7. If only the brake fluid performed as well. It began to boil on the second day in the afternoon. Made the brakes feel like I had warped the rotors, but they are fine.

They will dust up a bit and squeak a little under light braking in traffic, but the extra stopping power is well worth the dust and noise. Try 'em, you'll like 'em.

    Mike,

Do you have a part number for the front and rear on these? I definitely could have used better pads on Friday...

    Thanks!

The Hawk number is HB125N.650. Gryhead carries them but were out of stock so I got mine from Tirerack.com.

So what brake fluid were you using? Was it fresh?

I was using Synthetic Dot4, but it was at least two years old. Changing the fluid was on my list of things to do before the reunion, but I just ran out of time. It held up ok on the first track day, but started to boil in the afternoon runs.

Mike, you must have been driving a lot farther into the corners than I was, cause I did not get any fade unless I was passing on a short strait-away and passed my braking point.. I must admit that this was my first road racing event ever.. So I might not have been pushing as hard as you.. I have all my brakes from Car-quest.. But have been looking for a better set of pads.. I think that I will look at the Hawk's.. Thanks..

Yeah, we were pushing it hard and braking late. I didn't have any fade, just boiling fluid that made the brakes feel like I had warped a rotor. I should have put some cooling ducts on the RW.

You really were going deep in those corners. I got good video of the Road Warrior. You got the lines figured out for Barber.
