  • Fuel pump in an 86

Hi Guys. This is my first post here.I like the site a lot and will be spending more time here as it's now time to do something with the SVO I have had for almost 6 years. I see some names I recognize like GT350R and Gator. I did do a search and got some useful info but want to nail down a couple points. I have an 86 that I want to replace the fuel pump in. My Chiltons says all 84-88 have a dual pump system, but searching the archieves here leads me to believe the 86 SVO has a single, in tank pump. Is this correct? I have a bare bones Walbro 190 laying around and want to drop this in as I don't plan any mods beyond the Gillis, K&N and upgrading the exhaust and some mild porting work in the near future. Is this a straight drop in or are there any little tricks or parts other than the pump and the seal for the tank that I need? I've done several pump jobs on TCs so I understand the basic procedure, just trying to avoid the hooks.
    Thanks, Pete

Yes, the 86s have a single intank pump (as well as the 85.5s). If you have changed out a pump in a TC before, you'll have no problem with this one.
