I got the mac 2.5" cat back on my car. It sounds pretty sweet IMHO. Fits fairly well too, you just have to cut everything from the front of the mufflers back to connect to the Y-pipe.

isnt the mac a chambered design?
the straight through design is said to flow much better and thats very important on these cars...if you dont care abotu flow flowmaster always makes small engines sound bigger, if you still have the cat, i think no mufflers with straight piping would be the best, it will sound good and be as loud as a normal car with aftermarket mufflers, it would probably even be quieter than a car with 40 flowmasters....cheap too

There are probably 3 people(4 to500 hp) on this board that would really have to worry about flow through a chambered muffler vs straight through design.

Ryan Cloud is running a "FULL" 3 inch MAC system on his 86 and I am running the 2.5 inch Flowmasters on mine. Before he installed his system the cars ran pretty much identical times and at the Reunion they were 13.42 to a 13.49.

If you can find a restriction in his "FULL" 3 inch exhaust (including the Y pipe) good luck.

I just do not put too much faith into these magical claims about straight through designs on 250 to 300 hp levels. Just find something that you like and can live with and spend your money in other places to make the car faster.

I'm using dual Flowmaster Delta Flows. They have a nice sound to them. kinda V8 like, but higher pitched. People who don't know any better think I have a V8 by the exhaust sound.

I believe that you will have to have a 3" Y-pipe custom made. As for a 3" Cat., lots of companies make them. Mine is from Dynomax.

Ryan built his own Y pipe . Bought 3 inch mandrel bends from a race car shop. A very nice installation.
