    Just today I got around to swapping the track tires that I run back to the everyday tires on SVO wheels.

    As I was swapping the front wheels I noticed that the drivers side brake hose had a bubble in it under the rubber cover, crap!

    Well ok I had one bad hose, I removed the passenger front wheel and the brake hose on that side was bubbled also! These were hoses made by Raybestos that were just over a year old.

    I had inspected them before the Reunion and saw no problems but I have driven the car several times after the Reunion and it kind of makes me sick seeing those bulging hoses.

    So "PLEASE" if you were running at the track at the Reunion take the time to check your brake lines and other suspension pieces out before a line or something else lets go or breaks.

    Usually I do not leave the track wheels on this long and you can be sure that I will check everything out very close after the next event.

    I did buy some of the super nice braided hoses from SVPU to go back on the car...

    Good heads up!

    I can relate to these kinds of issues. With the solid engine mounts on my car, everyonce in a while I`ll find a loose bolt either laying under the car or have ( had ) the valve cover bolts loosen up, I even lost a k member bolt on my last dyno runs

    The way it`s done now is, blue Loctite for semiperminant nuts & bolts and red Loctite for the ones that postivley need to stay put!

        Custom mounts

        Gene, Those were fabbed up. We did use the outer half of the mounts and eliminated the rubber block.

        Think twice before going to solid mounts though. They are completely annoying, will constantly try and loosen anything that is not welded in place. There is one guy ( Fred House ), that lives a few hrs. away from me that has a damper on his crank pulley to help keep his sanity and reduce stress on his engine. His car is a 8.9x sec. drag car with solid mounts also, so I`m going to find out how much work it was and I`ll let you know too.

          Thanks, Joe. I was more just wondering where you got it. I am nowhere near that on our 86, but have been toying with the idea of a SVO-like CP autocross car. for a 4-cyl engine, it would probably be better to either do only one solid mount, or use a torque-limiting-device (chain, or something like that) instead of both solid mounts. Yes, they DO transfer a lot of engine vibrations to the chassis. Your fillings MUST be Loctited into your head, or they will rattle loose! :-)

          I would also be interested in that damper information, too. Thanks.

            Gene, ATI Products makes a 2 groove pulley damper combination, part# 916920

            I talked to Fred House this evening and this is what he has been using for years and loves it! This means I don`t have to replace anymore broken cowl covers :p LOL
