Hey guys,
For all of you who have been following "running out of ideas", "Last Call", and "sob story" read on:
I talked to Ty over the phone for awhile and his input plus everything else you guys have said convinced me it was a timing problem so I went over it again and again until I noticed the distributor was cranked way 'round. I pulled off the dist. cap and set everything up and the dist sprocket was at least two teeth off! My mechanic and the $480.00 Ford mechanic all assured me the timing was correct and indeed under the timing light it was so i had just marked the dist. sprocket position without verifying it myself and then had just been working with the cam and crank. When I finally figured it out the dist. was so far off that the car would not even start initially. I had to twist it about 30* cclockwise so it run long enough to get the light on it. I took the car out and it was better but still bucking so I went back to my last known good equipment and reinstaled my old plugs...voila! The bucking stopped, the idle went cherry, and the stumble disappeared too. That said I took it out and man, it was awesome!! She sang to me and pulled hard all the way to the redline..for about 10 minutes and then my turbo gave up the ghost so, once I get it rebuilt (a good excuse to move up to a t3/t4 hybrid I should be in business. I don't ever intend on racing it --I just don't want to be bothered by all these kids in their vtec civics and eclipses. The support has been great i would love to meet you guys sometime but i assume I'll be flying helicopters in Iraq or bound for Korea this spring and miss the next reunion.
Sincerely,
Rus Hays
