  • Manifold question

I'm wondering if my exhaust manifold is cracked. Visually I can't see anything, but on start up I can hear a ticking while driving (only during accel). But after the car warms up the ticking goes away all together. Is this a tell tail sign of a cracked or cracking manifold or do I have other problems?

I'm just trying to work out all of the bugs one at a time

Check your turbo mounting flange it could be loose or the gasket is blown out .Also retighten all your exhaust manifold bolts too.

RSC- does your ticking go away after the engine warms up? Or does it tick all the time?

It seems to go away after warmup..... I talked with DragPak about your situation today. He explained that the expansion of the manifold / block / gasket can cause what you are hearing as well. He mentioned that his did that. I would think (my opinion) that a TICK sound would be a lifter whereas a gasket leak or manifold leak would be more muffled....

I found crack on the manifold, so now my next question is what would be the best manifold to replace it with?

An E6 unless you want to go header or log.

If I have to get a new one I would rather upgrade then just put a stocker back in. So I guess my new question is which manifold would have the best hp increase for my buck and which would require the least modifications to install?
