  • Ticking noise

When I first heard my 84 run, I thought it was in need of HLA's. After taking a close look at the manifold, I found a large crack(E3)! Would this be causing the noise. Keep in mind that the ticking noise was pretty loud. Any ideas? I know I need a new manifold. Thanks all!

It sounds like you answered your own question. Upgrade to the better E6 manifold or a custom header.

    Good luck.

A cracke manifold will cause a ticking sound. Search ebay and turboford a used E6 or head to the local junk yard.

I have an E6 on the way. I've done a search on porting the E6, I know the port for the turbo should be matched up, but is it really worth it to port the rest of the manifold? I do plan on "cleaning" up the castings. BTW, it does appear that my E3 did not have a gasket between the head and manifold, is this normal? Thanks!

Yes, no gasket is required with an exhaust maifold
