The best places to check are the vendor links page on this site.

You also have to look at what you are getting when you order this set. Some sets only have 4 lines, others have 5 (the 5th rubber line goes in the center, on the rear end)

If you order a set from them, you will be sure to get the right thing, and, we know all these dealers will stand behind their products.

I got my lines from SVPU, and have been very happy with them.

BIG word of caution about SST lines, THE mod with the highest potential of killing you if not installed perfectlly. The suppliers barely even mention the risk. I know a guy who rolled his mustang into a ball coming into a corner off the straight. I darn near did it once myself.

You think you do a good install, peek under the car to check, test drive it for awhile, seems great. Take it on the track then out of nowhere, no brakes! Did you guess why yet?

The problem is with the car in the air and the wheel off, It's not that easy to anticipate potential interference with the range of tire movement under extreme suspension loadings. Furthermore the braided line bends and twists in a peculier way. So, when you least expect it, the edge of the tire grinds through the steel braiding as if it was macaroni.

I'm not trying in any way to slam you, but installing these lines is not much different than installing rubber lines.

And I admit the instructions in the kit are somewhat lacking (It's not a line installation for dummies manual), The kit does come with all brackets, and hold downs needed to keep the line off the weel.

The rear lines are easy, as nothing moves there the fronts are a bit more tricky, but with the kit I used, if you have the lines installed the right way, it is nearly impossible to get the line to even touch the wheel.

Maybe the kit you used wasn't engineered as well as the lines I have.

I do completley agree, you should be very cautious when instaling any lines, and make sure they will not rub the tires.

this would add to the reason why I was trying to convince a guy on 'another board' to buy a professional kit from a SVO specific supplier instead of trying to 'build one' from scratch so he could save $30.00.

Eric is right - you have to make sure to get the entire "kit" - as the front brackets are completely necessary. Again, Speeder, nothing personal against you - but if you don't install the lines properly and with the brackets - you can have wheel/tire interference - and possible brake failure is likely.

Speeder - I know where you'e coming from - I've seen a few people stuff their cars on the track too...and later it was discovered that was directly linked to brake failure. I know one of them had recently installed SS lines.

Your brakes are NO JOKE - and I wouldn't recommend looking for the CHEAPEST KIT. I'm not saying don't try to be 'thrifty' - but never slack on quality. Everyone gets caught up in building the motor to go faster - but they never understand it takes just as much energy to STOP it.

            Stainless Steel Brake Lines Source

You can purchase DOT approved Earl's Hyperfirm SS brake line kits for the SVO from Summit or Jeg's for about $95 for the 5 line kit. I bought mine from Jeg's about a month ago.
It is not exactly a bolt on for the rear brakes as the directions supplied will not work without bending the hard lines on each end of the axle.
I removed the existing brass fittings on the original rear lines from the axle mounting bracket and got it to work without messing with the hard lines, but it was perturbing to have to re-engineer a "bolt on" part.
Also the square block used for the banjo fitting needs to be ground on the bottom end to mate properly with the caliper. It is about 1/16" longer than the original banjo block so it interferes with a lip below the mounting hole.
Tha front lines were a snap with no problems at all.
Earl's has 3 different part numbers for each year of SVO. I didn't know how this could be since all the brakes are the same, so I placed a call to tech support. The person said the engineer must have had a reason for the different part numbers.
You can get the part numbers from the Holley web site if it is working.

I would highly recomend staying with a SVO specific vendor for these parts...

Trust me, after having a 10 minute argument with a tech (tech, not salesman) on the phone from summit, that all SVO's were V8's, I haven't bothered to do business with them again.

I also used the Earls kit, and yes, you do have to file a bit on the rear mounting blocks. But I didn't do anything special with the hard lines, and had no problems getting them to fit.

Moral of the story is, Because our SVO's are step children, a lot of times bolt -ons are not direct fit. If you have trouble installing something, You really want to be able to call someone that knows what a SVO is.

Being able to call them, and have them know exactly what you need to do for a problem with a install is worth much more than the $10 you might save. The SVO specific dealers we support on out site (on the links page) know the products they sell, or we wouldn't have them there.
