  • Speed bleaders! The cheap way!!!

I was looking at the speed bleeders that replace the bleed screws on our calipers. For those who don't know, they are basically the same as your regular bleed screws, yet have a check valve inside that when you open it a 1/4 turn allows it to spring back and seal off as to not suck in any air. Makes it a breeze to bleed your brakes. I was going to order some soon. They were $7ea. plus shipping thru the actual Speed Bleeders site, or $15ea for Stainless steel.
On one of my trips to Autozone to get new anti-rattle clips, I wandered down the "help" isle... Lo and behold... There were speed bleeders! Two for 9.99!!! .
I grabbed the two packs they had and installed them. They seemed to be kindof tough to thread in, even though I was sure not to cross-thread them, but otherwise they fit and work fine.
Many people I've talked to that race swear by these things.
If it ain't broke... Give me some time!

    Thanks for the tip!

You have the model number you used for the stock SVO calipers?

Be careful and do not overtighten them. The ball seat will split and spread out, wider than the dia. of the threads and makes it very hard to remove. I have seen it done.

I have also had the thread sealer wear off on the Speedbleeders as well. I went to Earl's Solo Bleeds instead.

Just to be clear, our front and rear both use a 3/8"-24 RH bleeder nipple?

The Earl's Solo Bleeds do look like a better design...

Yes. Same threads front and rear. My view is from a chort term use. I've only installed them, and haven't blead them after the initial bleeding. Other designs may be better, but they're definatley more expensive.
