  • dialing in the car

ok so my Beast is now running (1.59 exaust 1.89 intake valves, hi rev springs, teflon valve seals, bronze valve guides, matched ported and polished head, e6 exaust manifold ported and polished, 46lbs Fuel injectors, pe computer with super chip, hd timing belt and hardware, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, stage III t3/t4 turbo, compressor bypass valve, Rick gills boost valve, Racing clutch and pressure plate, K&N Filter , and 3" Exaust.) But their is an issue at Idle the car is running very Ruff and On the freeway under boost I seem to be geting a knocking sound. So does any one know what kind of Fuel pressure I should be running? and could the TPS be the cause of my Idle issue? Now I do have to say that the gas that is currently in the car has been siting for 8 months so I think that the knocking issue may be because of this but what about the idle issue?

What is your idle issue ?? -is it surging, won't idle down -- wants to die ??

I would say your idle issue is the #42 injectors...

was the super chip burned specifically for this setup?

It seems to be surging and wants to die. I have adjusted my timing and my Idle so it isn't dieing any more but I get a surge that will take the rpms up to 1500-2000 befor settling back down to 900 and yes the super chip was made for these injectors.

it could be the TPS, or the IAC is sticky...

        I would check both...

there is a procedure for setting idle, and TPS (they need to be set at the same time) in the FAQ section...

on the IAC, just clean it good, and make sure it moves freely

Set the TPS, that will cause what you are describing.

However as for teh "knock" thats occuring that could be alot of things doig that and many more causing it.

What do your plugs look like after running it hard..? Do they indicate a rich or lean condition..? What is fuel pressure set at..? what kind of fuel pump..?

And not to be a party pooper, but you might be replacing the bronze valve guides one day. For turbo applications they really arent the best thing to have.

well... from his other post about the Fuel Pressure Regularor, I bet his knock is coming from not enough fuel pressure when the boost comes in...
