Has anyone used the stock intercooler replacement core from Motion Dynamics? How does it perform? It states on their web page that it puts out 500 cfm. What does the stock SVO intercooler put out?

dang, I was just reading something about the stock IC CFM.... but damn if I can remember the figures. So much crap has been jammed in my ear holes here lately that my memory retention has been "poor" (to say the least) .... I'm thinking it was in the low-mid 300 cfm range with the TC IC being good for about 30-40 more cfm...

        Intercooler

I am answering from home, so I don't have all the numbers in front of me, but here is what I remember. We got these numbers on our Superflow 600 @ 28"s. Most info I have read on intercoolers measures flow, etc. @ a specified pressure drop. We did not do this, just a quick comparitive test.
        SVO IC: approx. 300 cfm.
Turbo Coupe IC: approx. 340 cfm
SVO IC with the new core: approx. 500cfm
Please DO NOT start using these numbers as hard facts!

So far the prototype has been on my '86 SVO for over 2 months. Seat of the pants says it performs better and spools up faster.

Within the next couple of weeks I have a long list of stuff to evaluate on the dyno. Included in this will be the revised IC versus stock. I will also be looking for temperature differences.

        I hope this info. helps.

Thanks, Jim. Please keep us posted as things progress. I have a Bob Lee intake and exhaust manifold that I am planning on installing as soon as it thaws (Texas-speak for anything above 65 degrees F). If your IC is better than the TC unit, we may be looking at a purchase.

Jim- question on your SVO cold air setup: Have you encountered any problems with engine movement causing the tube fittings to come apart (since it's attached to the car's body without the slack that the factory VAM to turbo hose allowed)?

Sorry guys, but due to a huge number of things, we have not gotten to the dyno yet. Believe me, I want the information as much as you do.

Due to a couple of family emergencys, I have been out of town a bunch, with more to come.

Yes, it flows considerably more than the Turbo Coupe Intercooler. However, I don't want to push it until I have real world data.

As for the cold ait kit, there is enough flexibility in the rubber couplings that there has been no problem with engine movement. As my motor mounts are really shot (shame on me) I can really vouch for that.
