  • Brake Line Help

I'm currently replacing my rotors and pads and found a slice in the front driver side brake line.

The connections are somewhat rusted and I can't figure out which parts unscrew to replace the line. There is bracket with what looks like a nut above and below. The nut below the bracket then has another nut connected to the metal line.

Which nuts do I try to unscrew? Does the bracket get replaced with the new brake line?

    Thanks

well, first off, I would say call Paul@svpu, and get a new set of braided lines. I saw them while at the reunion, and they are VERY NICE-- I wish he had those lines when replaced mine.
His prices will be right at (if not less) than you can buy the rubber ones.--

now-- as I remember-- the top fitting is the one that un-screws, the bottom nut is to hold while unscrewing the top one, so you don't twist the metal line. -- also -- there is a little c-clip type of thing that holds the bottom line in place on that bracket.

I would get some penetrating fluid, and hose it down with it.. then come back with a wire brush and clean a bit of the rust off it before you start... You will probably want to invest in some flared end wrenches before you start if you don't have some already

      Eric,
Didn't you mean to say (line wrenches)?

            Thanks Eric

It was rusted and I couldn't see the clip. A little WD40 and the clip slid out along with the brake line.

Any tips for turning the rear caliper piston in? They are barely moving with turning tool and socket wrench.

            Thanks again for the help

              those can be a pain...

Use MORE of that WD-40, and spray it everywhere inside that calpiper... brake fluid leaves some nasty residue..

there were some other tricks I used when I had mine out last.. but I'm afraid I dont remember that far back.
