What size are the bolts that connect the downpipe to the exhaust housing. I purchased my 84 SVO without an exhaust.

    Thanks in advance.

I've used stainless steel nuts of the proper size on the downpipe connection and things have held up OK thus far. I put a little dab of anti-seize on them (probably unnecessary, makes me feel better though) just to help keep the threads from galling. I had to replace the studs on my turbo elbow shortly after purchasing my car because I couldn't get the nuts to thread back on. It took welding a socket on each stud to get the old ones off! Not something I wish to repeat again anytime soon.

Anti-seize would be bad. Cook some copper around those threads.

I echo that sentiment. When we build our stainless machines we specifically instruct out assemblers to use anti-seize. Check out this link for some more details: http://www.unirac.com/unirac/uni_pdf/ii910.pdf

I just read this thread. I meant...

Anti-seize would(N'T) be bad. Cook some copper around those threads.

          Sorry
