When I first got my 2R 85.5 I had a problem with the driving light switch nearly catching on fire. It had only a few hundred miles on it so I had taken it back to the dealership. They fixed it and said it was a faulty relay. I never had any more problems with it. I recently purchased a second 85.5 in September. It has 73,000 miles on it. I was driving it in the rain the other night and couldn't see real well with the fogged headlights. I figured the switch would have been fixed by now if it had a problem. Well... Get out the marshmellows cause the thing is fried ! The switch is actually melted solid in the "on" postion although the lights aren't lit. I need to know what the fix is and who has a good used ( or NOS ) switch and correct relay.
This is the first I've heard about a headlight switch problem. I know the igition switch is something us 84 owners have to look out for, as well as part of the wiring harness under the hood. Was this a service bulitin or recall, or was it limited to a bad batch of switches?
