Bullet wheel machining

Id like to get some "Bullet" 17x8 wheels on my SVO.
The FMS part # is M-1007-J178 I looked way back through the archives once and I think I found that some guy named Paul(?) put them on his, but machined some off the back to get the offset right. My question is how much has to be taken off? does that weaken them any that it would affect saftey if I ran a track day?
Roughly what did it cost for the machining?
