  • My Heater Doesn't Work

This is going to sound dumb but can anyone tell me why my heater doesn't work. Has anyone else had the same problem?

does your fan not turn, or does it just blow cold ?

ok - when you move the blend control ... does it change the air temp at all? does the control have any pressure against it or does it move VERY easy?

It never gets higher than 1/3 of the way.

really hard? did it just start or has it always been like this? sounds like the cable is binding or the blend door is stuck.

Its always been hard, but then again the heater hasn't worked the hole time that I've had it. Is it a hard fix? Does it need to be replaced ? thanx for your help

you're not going to know until you at least crawl under the dash or pull the entire dash and check it out.

Are the hoses connected in the engine compartment? If so and you verify the things Bud has mentioned and it still doesn't work,I think I would check to make sure it has a good working thermostat,If all checks to this point you can remove the return hose from the heater to make sure coolant is circulating through the heater core,it could be pluged.

my svo did the same thing years ago, just cold air, no heat. It turned out to be the heater core itself. Had to replace it.

                              heater core

You can pull the hoses off the heater core someplace convient under the hood. Use a garden hose and flush out the heater core in both directions. If you get some crud coming out, that was the problem and you might want to think about replacing it as the problem will probably return.

At the very least, it didn't cost you anything to do this.
