Map light

Did the map light come standard in the 86 if there was no sunroof? It's a dumb question but I have an 86 with a sunroof and was just curious.

just so you know it's not a fluke-- my 86 1E non-sunroof also has the map light

Map Lights & Sunroofs

I'm pretty sure all sunroof cars did not come with map lights. I think they did have the standard Mustang dome light ? I've never owned a sunroof car so I could be wrong. I do know that every SVO without a sunroof that I have ever seen has had the map light. I will concede that there could possibly be some out there (early models ?) with no sunroof and no map light. Mine are both 85.5's...

Ok, so I guess if you didn't get a sunroof with your svo (any year) it came standard with a map light. I had never seen any other 86 svo besides mine (which does have a sunroof) then we picked up another 86 without a sunroof and it had a maplight. Our 84 also has no sunroof but does have the map light. Also my 86 with sunroof does have the domelight although it seems smaller than my 86 and 84 without the sunroof. Did any of that make sense??!!

Just pondering the map light thing...

I'm wondering if maybe a previous owner replaced the headliner and didn't replace the maplight.

My 84 and a friend's 84 have headliners that were replaced. They have the maplight but are missing the inboard visor clips. I dunno if they're supposed to be there or not, since the visors have no opening for them. Could it be that the visors got re-skinned at the same time. and that the items like visor clips got left out ?
