  • 5 spoke split wheels?

Will these split 5 spokes work on a stock svo tire size is 245-45-17 and 255-40-17. I tried searching but didn'y see any one with them. Do the dust caps clear?

    They look like these.....

I have them, and they will not fit PROPERLY on an SVO without doing quite a bit of work.

What did you have to do out of curiosity?

sn95 conversion, and shorter axles in the rear.

Eric, does the shorter axles in the rear apply to any SN95 rim?

yes. all that I have seen. A lot of people use ford Ranger axles with success. I don't have any info on that swap tho.

With the current selection of 05 rims, it's not worth the trouble, as the offset is close enough to stock to work without modification.

This info is for everyone else. The 1C that I have those rims on has a IRS under it. That makes it a little more dificult.

So these rims will probably wind up on the classifieds at some point in the future. what sux is, I have a SN95 conversion up front, so I need sn95 offset in the front, and SVO/SN197 in the rear. should be fun matching up a set

So, is the IRS SVO width, or more? (I've seen both posted)

Rolling my fenders helped a bunch, but it still just nicks my 10th annys with the SVO rear.

Trying to find out what kind of heartache awaits.

the IRS is just a TAD wider. sorry I don't have exact dims, but I didn't take them (obviously )

it is somewhere between 1/4 to 1/2 inch wider

The reason I suspect you see varying reports on this is, it depends on where the suspension is when measured.

This is certainly something I wish I had payed a little closer attention to when I stuck the IRS in. altho I would have done it anyway

Thanks Eric. Yeah, obviously the width varies by ride height, but that's what I was looking for. Depending on the camber curve, it might be even better clearance-wise too.

I'm putting it in for sure, I'm just having to decide if I wait to install until I have the cash to do it with the whole MM kit or not...

The rumor is that stock SVO wheels will not fit on a IRS.. and this rumor is completely true....
                    BUT
it's also very easy to fix.

If you take about 1/16 off the corner of the tie-rod mount on the IRS, the SVO wheels will fit right on.
There is a ton of material there, and mostly all you are removing is the slag from where the mold went together.

The SVO wheels will fit on the IRS without issue, and look pretty decent.

The sn197 wheels don't work on the front with the sn95 parts? What year spindles and control arms are you using?

they will physically bolt up, yes, but again, they don't fit right. the wheels will be pushed in too much, just like if you tried to run SVO wheels on a sn95 car.

Could also be some rubbing issues when turning.

                        The car has a sn95 tubular k-member, with tubular sn95 control-arms, 95 spindals & coil-overs.

That concerns me. I have a front suspension from an '02GT and it was mocked up to my 86 Capri and appeared that everything would work perfect with the 07 GT wheels, but your post contradicts that.

Remember the later SN95 spindles are 1/2" wider than the early ones. So you have some ajustment there
