if replacing the stock wastegate with an external one. because of the internal spring in the wastegate are you constantly running 8-10 psi of boost or just when the engine is under load like the stock system?

On a turbo, you need a load to make boost.

I doubt an external wastegate would effect that, so it should be pretty much the same as the stock system.

so under normal cruise conditions you would still be running 1-2psi ?

under normal cruising, you run 0 psi. it works just like the stock system.
