Well....Paul at SVPU was working on a new unit...haven't heard the results/timeframe as of yet.

I too, am looking for a quality 3" downpipe, but don't want to spend major $$$$$ (read : ATR).

I also do not want to buy from someone who does not know SVO's.

      Just my .02

      Paul, any news yet????

I have the old style ATR with the external wastegate. I thought ATR had a new one out that used the stock flapper door, internal wastegate.

ATR does have a new 3" downpipe with internal wastegate flapper... it bolts right up to the turbo and gets rid of the restrictive factory elbow. The only problem is it isn't cheap either... at about $400 for the downpipe. It's another $75 for the "test pipe" or off road pipe more correctly, so it'd be around $500 or so shipped to your house. I have this set-up on my SVO with a Magnaflow catback... and it's a really nice piece but the only thing I'm not big on is how low it hangs from the car

I just ordered one from strick9. From the pics it looks almost identical to the Sac Mustang one, but was $98 shipped vs. $109+shipping from Sac Mustang.

Anyone know the length of the stock cat? (Ordering a universal 3" catco, but don't know the length).

                  Stock Cat

My cat on my '86 is ~19" long tip to tip. Mine is welded to the stock down pipe. I don't know if this is original or not.

Hmm. Summit's got 12", 14", and 16.5" cats. I'll just measure mine stock one tomorrow. Probably just get the 16" one to make sure it's effective enough to let me pass smog.

This post more or less reflects what I want to do, but I would like to be able to remove my CAT after my yearly trek for "Emissions Testing".
I guess any muffler shop should be able to put a flange on the downpipe that I get though, and make a "Test Pipe" to be put in place.

                        SVO P51

Check out this web site. They have a high flow cat & test pipe pictured side by side. I think it mates up to the ATR 3" downpipe.

FYI, I spoke to Sacramento Mustang today. They have just received 7 of their 3" downpipes.

Thanks for the info! I hadn't seen that site yet, and I'd thought that I had searched everything possible about SVO's, I must be slipping.
I might try to hold off and get a 3" Down Pipe from SVPU, when he gets them in, but the ATR unit is nice.....

                            interesting --

This place has a Kentucky area code (south eastern KY to be exact) on the phone number.
But I don't see any location information anywhere on the site..

I may have to see if I can find this place.
