  • Motion Dynamics 3" down pipe

This is a quality piece. I haven't installed it yet so don't know about fitment, but it's really nice out of the box.

I have a Stinger 3" kit from the turbo thru the muffler (with a 2.5" tail). I intend to see how easily it replaces the downpipe without major tweaking of the rest of the system. I will post on this in a week or so.

do you have the newer one they just made? If so it is indeed a nice peice. I've seen the progression from the first one to the latest..huge improvement.

For anyone who wanted to know... The down pipe will bolt right up the Stinger exhaust kit with no modifications required. This is a big plus for those of us with hundreds of bucks in a 3" exhaust.

          Cool!

My buddy is manufacturing them. He likes to hear any feedback on the pipe. I'll pass any feedback that anyone has on the product. I think he said that he has 6 or 7 left and after that he may not produce anymore.

I'm having this installed right now. Has anyone had an interference issue with the firewall? It may be my turbo, Rod's header, new motor mounts, etc. but it doesn't fit very well. I'll investigate more. And call MD as their web site is down.

Never mind. Just talked to Paul for 10 minutes. It's the "Rod's" header flange that must be slighty back. The FMIC I have also has a gap between the two pipes that attach to the turbo and the two pipes on the intercooler itself. Some longer hoses took care of that no problem.

So be forwarned what header you are using when you change your exhaust.

The MD pipe is FINE!!! Can't wait to drive the car!

I'm having a small problem with MD and the guy who makes these down pipes right now.

I ordered 2 pipes, was charged for two pipes, but only received one. The guy who makes them was supposed to ship the one on back order but I haven't seen it yet. I had called about two weeks ago and they ( MD ) were supposed to get back to me but I haven't had a call back yet either.

I'm not in a hurry so I'll give them a few more days before I get miffed enough to give them a call.

I cut and pasted your message into an email and sent it to the guy who is producing them. Hope MD gets back to you with good news.

I have heard the same. Whatever this issue is...he'll make it right. Overall good guy to deal with.

                          Jim,
you are the original owner arent you? The car was never hit right? Just knowledge for future intercooler kits.

Eric: Car was 3-1/2 years old and 20K miles when I bought it June 1989. The PO NEVER did anything but change oil, plugs etc. And he drove it like and OLD lady! He once barely scraped the drivers side bumper cover front/side going in or out of a garage. I haven't physically measured the flange location on the Rod's header but seeing as both the DP and the gap between the FMIC tubes both are in the same direction (back towards firewall) makes me believe it's the flange location. Car is still at the shop waiting the Stinger 3" Mid pipes and the duel 2-1/2" tail pipes.

Will measure asap and note results here. Eric as you know my tubes are potentially a little different. And now I had to remove the JB American strut tower brace because a tube hits that. I think it's the not stock turbo I have. Had it so long don't know what it is. I do know is was originally from Turbo City.

Why didn't I just leave this car alone!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL! been there done that. Well I can say for a fact that I have had 2 complaints on 24 intercooler kits built. 1 claimed to be 1.5 inches short the other 2.5 inches long. One proved to be that the car was hit and had standard mustang bumper shocks on it that is why I sent them out with the spacers so if it was too long we could shorten it up. And would offer longer hoses if it was too short. I know Rods header were very consistant but there were a few generations. As far as hitting the JBA there are several ways arround that. Depending on which pipe is hitting. Pictures!
