most common is the passenger side floor board - under the carpet .... it's also the easiest area to check and get to. I've also seen them under the back seat, spare tire, stuffed in the rear bumper cover ... but 90% - passenger side floor board.
If you look at this pic (stripped interior of my 4E while I restoring it), you can see the build sheet .. and it was "cooked" to the floor pan.

I've also found them on 84 models taped nicely behind the pass side rear interior panel. On 85 and 86 SVOs, I have found them either under the carpet as Bud described, or in the spare tire well underneath the tire.
Good luck...John Basler

nope - mine's still there, and it was face down ... so no pic of it either. No big deal I guess ... I've done a complete paperwork trail on it with copies of registrations/titles from DOTs.Originally posted by joenardo
any tricks to get it out if i find it cooked!!
I doubt you would see it "cooked" to the floorpan if it was a Northern Car. Mine was sitting outside in South Texas and Florida. The whole interior of the car was dried, bleached, and cracked when I bought it. All better now

I don't know exactly where mine was, as it was pulled out by the first owner in perfect condition. He was a SVO nut... and I'm lucky he was as I still have the build sheet as well as the original window sticker. I found the second build sheet when I was putting the cold air kit on my car, as it was tucked away in the corner of the front bumper cover.
There's no rime or reason as to where Ford puts them... they're always in different places so it seems.

Build sheet
The sheet on my 85 was found under the passenger rear seat/carpet area by the 2'nd owner, who was enough of an SVO nut to keep his car info, documents and reciepts in its own folder. I had to pass a darn screening process to buy that car.
I'll find where the sheet is on my 84 maybe when I tear it down to refurbish it for it's 25'th birthday present.

Maybe I'll find a second sheet.
