  • Koni Warranty

I want to know what to do with my shocks. I emailed Koni but they have not written me back. I know my fronts are gone. Is it true that you can send them to Koni to be rebuilt or do i have to buy new ones? I am not the original owner so i guess i would have to pay. Is it expensive, has anyone here done it before? Where, who, what do i do or send to, id like to keep Konis on my car instead of other brand. Does anyone know if its cheaper to buy new ones instead of rebuilding them?

They are $140 a piece to rebuild. The guy you need to talk to is Pat McLaughlin at Koni in Kentucky. It's about a 4 week turn around. Go to www.koni.com

      New or Rebuild

New Koni's arent much more expensive. I suggest you call Paul at SVPU and he will hook you up. Buy new and you then have the lifetime warranty. I dont know if you get a warranty like that if they rebuild them.

Sounds like I'll be giving Paul a call. Thanx a lot fellas, by the way, i know that the yellows are supposed to be better but what do you guys recommend me buying? I know it all depends on what i am planning to use them for, well i will do mostly street driving but once in a while i will try to do some track racing and showing off some yellows are kinda cool too huh? Maybe i should just stick with reds...

        thanx, izzy

          Koni's

I would recommend staying with the reds. The major advantage I see for going to yellows (especially in the rear) is thay the yellows are adjustable at the top of the shock (like the fronts) unlike the rear reds which have to be unhooked (at the bottom) and compresser to adjust them.

Actually I think someone posted that Koni doens make the yellow struts anymore (although they can valve the reds to yellow specs)

            Koni Rebuilds

I sent a complete set of red struts to be rebuilt ( all 6 ) from an 84 SVO back to a guy named Quentin at Koni in Kentucky about 3 years ago. I sent the paperwork from my 85.5 ( dealership purchase order and tag / license receipt ) to show me as an original owner of a SVO. Koni rebuilt them for free and warranteed them for life so long as the car still retained all the stock suspension components. I only paid UPS charges of $28.00 ( $14.00 up and $14.00 back Georgia to Kentucky ). I am running these on my modified LX / SVO / GT / Cobra "Frankenstein" car.
