Is the mount for the SVO transmission the same as the v8 mustangs?I am looking to replace my trans mount with a prothane poly mount.I used to have a v8 one lying around (for comparison) but I can't find it.Any help would be great.Thanks,Jason.

DON't use the polly rear mount if you like the fillings in your teeth...

they seem to cause a LOT of vibrations to transfer through

Use the cheapo rubber one from a-zone, or local parts house

      trans mount and vibration

Just did a clutch (thanks forced4) and found of coarse the original trans mount rubber torn. Installed the $15 autoparts replacement and it really did reduce vibration a lot. I now will be doing the motor mounts since I can spot tares in those as well. The replacment did not need the metal strap (or at least it does not fit in) and has more rubber on it.

Thanks for the info.Sounds like the autozone/parts store mount is the one to use.

Get out of here. I have the Poly. Good to go! No problem! I love the way it tickles my seat. Yea the Seat.

I have poly mounts for the cross member and the trans, no issues with vibrations here. You do feel a little more vibes through the seat, but it makes me feel more connected with the car. If your vibes are annoying you may want to look into the driveshaft/dampener assembly or just drive a Lincoln

pretty sure I did move that strap when when I replaced mine.

I can put up with extra vibs when they give extra performance, but that mount isn't going to make any performance difference. I prefer my 'bottom' don't vibrate

                trans mount metal strap

                Mike,

I tried to move the metal retaining strap from the old trans mount to the new one. The problem is the replacment mount has "more rubber" and the knuckle bends in the metal strap would interfere with the rubber by a good 1/4 of an inch on each side. To make it work I would have to trim the rubber back (could use a die grinder) but I was concerned about modifing a new part. Looking at it, I thought the added steel and rubber in the new mount might have been a design around way to remove the metal bracket.

                Thoughts?

The car of coarse sees low miles/year and I will of coarse inspect it often.

The nuts are different with the newer (V-8 style) mount as well.

I think the "strap" will just tighten down when the mount is bolted to the transmission (gearbox).

Next thing, he'll say the nuts were blue!

Try installing your original SVO "nuts" that attach the trans mount to the crossmember..... to the "new" trans mount. It won't work - they are different size "NUTS" - Just a note of caution so you don't f#@* something up.

So what are the correct sized "NUTS"? (lol)

My Energy Suspensions poly mount attaches to the crossmember with screws, not studs/nuts. Yes, the screws are of a larger diameter than the stock studs, which did give me a bit of a time getting them to thread through the crossmember slots. I eventually opened up the slots just enough to clear the screw thread crests and now everything is good to go. YMMV. Good luck.

OK, I have always had a lot of vibration with my current motor (not so on the last SVO). I pulled out my poly mount last night and put in the worst Indian made piece of junk from Advance auto ($12). I also frogot about the nuts vs bolts thing. I found some Bronco nuts in the garage that worked well. the studs are 3/8"-16 if anyone needs to get new nuts.

Oh, I ordered an `88 V8 mount, got a box labled `88 2.3 LX and it fits fine. I almost never order anything from a FLAPS using the SVO listing. I recommend staying away from the Advanced version. REALLY low quality.

Oh, if anyone wants a perfectly serviceable poly mount, lemme know.
