  • Clutch questions

Well guys my clutch has been slipping now for a few months and its about time I get this this part fixed.

Option one: get a replacement clutch stage 1 or two and just replace it.

Option two: My friend bought one of those 5.0 bell housing adapter plates to have a midplate made for his Datsun and said I could get it for half off what he paid, so about 100.00. I have a 5.0 bell housing and fork along with a newer 10.5 clutch I would just need the flywheel.

    What do you guys think?

The 9" will handle lots of power. So, unless your looking to use this clutch behind a 500 HP motor, or to Drag/beat the living sh&$ out of it, I would just get a 9" clutch that will work for your HP/TQ requirements.

Be sure and check the rear main seal while you have the flywheel off. It's easy to replace while everything is apart.

I just put a spec I clutch in mine and I would not recommend it for street use.

I have just a few hundred miles on SPEC stage II from Forced4. (Shameless Plug). Much lighter feel than stock, which was a nice surprise!. 58K mile car. Not quite as progressive as stock but not bad IMHO.

I second the Stage II Spec clutch and throw in the matching aluminum flywheel. Both are very easy to drive on the street. While you are in there, throw in a steel bearing retainer on the trans to smooth out the throwout bearing movement and call it a day. Good luck.
