  • Help! Where's this wire plug up?

    -84 SVO
Over the weekend I've taken the head off to replace the headgasket with a Felpro 1035. #4 was where the headgasket blew on the exhaust side, about an inch and a half had been torn and pushed out the side (previous owner installed boost valve incorrectly)

*Anyway, on the Fuel Injector harness there is a small L shaped plug that fits on the threaded connectors ( like the connector for the oil pressure sending unit ). I cannot recall where this plugs in, or if it was unplugged originally. I know of 2 other connectors like it, the one off the firewall that plugs into the oil pressure sending unit, the one off the driverside near the coil that plugs into the coolant sensor underneath the lower intake, but also this third one on the fuel injector harness - where's it go? please help!

    -Thank you

There is another coolant temp sensor on the block below the oil pressure sending unit.

I assume that is the one you are missing...

On a 86, the temp sensor on the lower intake has a plug on it, not just the L shaped push on type..

SMACKING MY FOREHEAD!!! Thanks so much!

Since I now have my answer, would you tell me for peace of mind, this one on the fuel injector harness is the one that plugs into that block fitting correct?

      Thank you.

I actually woke up with a stress headache this morning over this dilemma - I'm a DORK

yeah the oil sending unit L - shaped "plug" and the temp sens L - shaped "plug" arent the same size. The temp plug has a smalled inside dia. than the oil one.

Or maybee its the other way around. Either way if your trying to smash the oil sending unit plug on with a hammer.....chances are that its the wrong one.

I can't recall which plugs where, ... BUT!!

you can always ground the plug against the block for 3 secs, and run back and look at the gauges....

Make sure your fuel lines are connected, and your key is on for this to work.

It's not recomended to leave this thing grounded too long...

            oh yea...

if the temp gauge rises, it is the sensor under the oil pressure sender

if the fan kicks on, then it is the sensor on the lower intake.

and of course if the oil pressore raises, you know, it's the big round thing!!!
