  • Rocking Chair

I just noticed that I had some sub frame dambage under my driver seat. My 84SVO seat was rocking back and forth at the floor. I checked it out and there were cracks all around the outside rear seat mounting bolt. I had all the cracks welded and was woundering if there was any way to prevent that from happening agian?

subframes... with seat mounting brace. Look at what Kenny Brown offers and you'll see what I'm referring to.

Here is another suggestion. Scroll down to the floor pan reinforcement.

            How about here?

Or you can go to this website for more pics and info about subframe connectors.

I know Paul from SVP recomends the Global west sub frames.

That is someone that owns a SVO performance shop, and has access to lots of different types of subs, and that is what he chose to run on his SVO.

I recently asked the sub frame question on our old forum, here is what I found out (along with a lot of research). The global west subs are longer than most subs, and attach to a beefier part of the car, not just to some sheet metal. They also attach in a couple of different places. they are round, which is stronger than the square/rectangle units, and they also have a seat reinforcement panel available for them. (as most others do)

I have done quite a bit of research on subs since I asked that question about 2 months ago, and firmly believe the Global wests to be about the best ones out there.

That is what I plan to put on my car.

BTW: there is no correct / wrong answer for this question... about any sub, will help your problem!! -- but as the joker said in Batman, "if your're going to go, go with a smile!!"

                busted floor!!

Had the same problem with my '84.

Welded up the floor pan then added the t-style sub-frame connectors from Kenny Brown (others would work as well) and after more than 5 years with my heavy butt in the seat it hasn't given me another problem.
