  • brake problems

I just did a brake job on my SVO-brake equipted 89 Saleen. I checked my calipers-bores and seals-and they were fine. I replaced the pads and rotors with Ford parts. I bled the brakes, replacing the fluid with dot 4, drove the car 20 very easy miles, and bled them again. I then bedded the pads.
The problem is that my front right wheel locks up before the left front. I bled the system again, paying special attention to the left front caliper, since it wasn't locking up with the right front.
Same deal-the right front locks up first.
    Anyone got any ideas???
    Thanks

    Lockup?

So there is an uneven amount of pressure going to the right front wheel with everything else being equal? Hmmmmmmmm./ Could be one caliper slightly stronger than the other to unequal tire pressures.....A few variables i would think-----

? maybe add some kind of proportioning valve if its that bad?

      Just Guessing...

Are you alone in the car when you nail the brakes? Could it be weight distribution on the front wheels? How much do you weigh? I know that in some road racing applications that they adjust the brake bias ( left to right ) based on driver weight... I'm only guessing... Kinda hard to make a good call by computer...

        Just a couple ideas

Make sure brake pads and rotors are grease free.

Check brake lines for weakness. One brake line giving way more than the other would cause more pressure to be applied at the caliper of the srtonger line.

Make sure calipers operate freely. If calipers are made of phenolic material, you may want to replace with steel. If there is more resistance in one caliper's movement, then more braking force would be needed to overcome the resistance, thus causing one to lock before the other.

        Just my 2 cents.
