  • Stripped Shifter Plate Bolt

Installing my new shifter tonight and the threads on the right rear hole of the tranny case is stripped. It is a blind hole but looks like it can be drilled through and threaded to allow a longer bolt to get past the damaged threads.

Anybody see a problem with this? Seems to be an easier solution then going next size up as there isn't much wall thickness anyway.

    Thanks,
    John

I had one that was broken off. I drilled it out and put in a helicoil.
Shifter bolted down tight as normal.
If it ain't broke... Give me some time!

That shifter is very shinny, puts my dirty old Hurst to shame. How do you like the Steeda so far?

I'm still a few months from being able to drive it so no reviews yet. Seems to be more precise then the OEM shifter but, it was loose and had a stripped bolt so probably anything was better.

I've had the tri-axe shifter in my '86 for around 6 years(ever since they were for sale) and would not replace it with anything.

I've heard nothing but good about the Steeda Tri-ax.
