  • shift fix

I just got around to taking my shifter apart to see if I could make it more like an after market shifter. It was really loose and I felt like I was driving an old truck.

When I got it apart I could see the old rubber was just shot. So I had a shifter handle from a '99 GT and it fit right in.

The '99 handle is a bent more toward the back of the car and a little taller but fits really nice. Now it feels like a tight short shifter. Just click click and it is in gear. I don't even have to move my arm as I can go from 1st to 2nd by just closing my hand.

The rubber bushing in the '99 shifter is about the same as the Hurst, but the '99 has steel bushings at the attachment holes.

there's quite a few posts on how to replace those bushings, and with what. I don't think I've heard of 99 up bushings fitting before.... thanks for the tip.
