Man, I've been watching Food Network ALOT while I've been off. This week has had my mouth watering for awesome southern BBQ. Are there any near us? Edit: US being at the Reunion! LOL!

Southern BBQ in MD?

Is that like going for Mexican food in New Hampshire? (I tried a Mexican food place near Lime Rock one time and they didn't have a clue.)

It depends on what you call close.....near Louisville there is a place call Jucy's. I didn't want to leave the place. Their Pintos are to die for man.

I tried to get Tom to bring some last year be it was out of his way.

There is a nice BBQ joint in SW TN if you like dry rub. If you ignore all the inuendo, once you get east of Tyler, TX, good BBQ is hard to find.

Memphis has a few neat BBQ places.

After re reading this thread, I must say that BBQ joints have too much cartelage. You really need to concentrate on the ribs.

there is a sonny's in richmond, it's not bad, there is also now a Logans Roadhouse that will be in very close by. My 12 yr old son LOVES their ribs.

Who doesn't love ribs? We used to go to FL for bike week every year and we always brought back a cooler full of shrimp. Then we had a ribs and shrimp party. Next to king crab BBQ ribs are my favorite food!

We get plenty of BBQ around here, ate some Friday for lunch and last night for dinner. I will say that Chili's still has some of the best baby back ribs.

The only Southern BBQ that is on the real Southern BBQ map are Carolina, Memphis, St Louis (yes the Ozarks) and Texas. The rest are pretty much copy-cats.

But, I can attest that Jucy's in Louisville is the bomb, and they copy the Texas BBQ style. Yes, an hour or so away, but it is the real deal.

Man you have never heard of Dreamland BBQ? Must be living under a rock!

You cannot watch a football, basketball game or race from around here without having to see a remote from Dreamland.

Only an hour away? What's another 1 hour drive since I am already making the drive from Colorado for the reunion.

That's a joke, right?

I get to Pearland and Katy often, if you find Chili's ribs among the best, I feel sorry for you.

Ate BBQ tonight. Tulsa and OKlahoma has some great BBQ. What kind do you like. For a Northern style, you can't beat Knotty Pine. Of course its a sweet style and its been around for 50+ years! Don't expect much from the decore, but it was remodeled back in the 70s. You can find a southern style, kinda vinegerry. But there is also Elmos, Albert Gs, and for just a quick dinner there's a Rib Crib. This Monday night I am feeding 80 with BBQ from one of my favorite haunts( usually find me there on Friday night on a date w/ the missus) KilKennys! Its an Irish style BBQ made with a Jack Daniels Sauce. The ribs are some of the most tender, juicy and succulent you will find anywhere. It falls off the bone and easily has twice the meat of something from Chillis. Of course I usually have a side of colcannon and a brew or two. Guinness of course!

It occurred to me that one of our Reunion Sponsors is Weber Grill, and one of their engineers (Ted, SVONO50) has not responded yet. I think that he may have relevant feedback.

Bonnie and I met Ted in Chicago at one of the Weber Grill restaurants a few years ago and had a great BBQ dinner. I think that SVOeric may have visited the same place a few times on trips to Chicago.

If each recipient of a Weber Grill door prize from previous reinions brought their grilles to the Reunion, maybe a "cook off" could be held in the parking lot on Saturday evening.

To me, BBQ is like steak. If it takes a sauce to make it good, it's not good.

I'll be happy to bring 20 pounds or so of slow smoked TX ribs that will fall off the bone to the Reunion if we have some way to re-heat them. Weber grills could work, but I'm hoping whoever is in charge of the accommodations might request kitchen time (glances in Eric's direction).

I'll even bring a few quarts of BBQ sauce.

I could bring some grub too. Maybe some BBQ baked beans, cream cheese stuffed jalapenos wrapped in bacon. They are awesome smoked or grilled.

Texas Tri tip Roasts... haven't had that cut of meat since I moved from CA. I wish the butchers in KY knew what a tri tip was lol. I gotta mean sauce!
ok now you got me going to the kitchen.
