  • Fuel tank filler tube bolt bolt hole

Wasn't sure if this thread should be here or in the INTERIOR/BODY section.

Can someone measure their gas tank and tell me how far from the corner (front or rear, don't matter to me) the filler tube bracket mounting bolt hole is? This is the bracket that bolts to the fuel tank flange to help keep the tube in place.
The newer replacement tanks don't have them and I want to weld a small tab onto the flange because it is narrower than stock and I want a more solid surface to drill the new hole into.
Unfortunately, I threw my old tank out before measuring it.

    Thanks in advance

From the back of the tank at the flange its 7 5/8". The flange on my tank is about 3/4" wide. That makes it about 6 7/8" from the wall of the tank in case your new tank doesn't have the flange on the back.

Kurt I just got a new tank from advanced and eye'd the hole and drilled in in the big ol' lip that goes around. Does the new tank you have not have the big ol' lip?

You may want to test it for leaks prior to installing it in the car.

Just meaning about 4 weeks ago. It doesn't leak..had about 4 tanks through it at Road America alone.
