  • Moser axles...

I'm getting ready to order a set of axles for the 8.8" I'm putting together. Has anyone had any problem with the Moser axles bending?

The only reason I ask is a friend of mine with a SN95 has had the driver's side bend twice. I think it's his housing, but he blames the axles.

That is a new one to me, never heard of any issues with bent Mosers. A friend of mine had 100+ runs with 1.5x 60-ft times at the drag strip with his Mosers w/o any sort of bending/breaking issues. Is your friend clipping curbs or driving on some insanely pot holed roads? Your axle tube would have to be out by a few degrees to bend your axles.

On a side note here, I would go with srange. I have personally seen how moser butchered a 9" housing that my dad sent to them to weld in a support brace, a trained squirreel could do a better job, the brace wasn't centered, and was on crooked...enough that it was very obvious to the eye, and the welds looked like s#$& too. I would just be skeptical thats all.

Granted this was just the housing, but I think their quality can be very hit or miss.

I have some Mosers on my GT. Nothing really bad to say after 8 years of running them. They are just stock length 28 spline units and nothing fancy.

          Mosers fine with me

I installed a set of Mosers in my stock 7.5" SVO rear end, this is a modded car wix nitrous. Out of the box the appearance was a very high quality and the fit perfectly with no issues thus far. I would buy them again

The GM F-body roadrace guys have had some issues with Moser axles (accelerated wear at the bearing location), on several sets. That said, we put a complete Moser 9" in our 85 Fiberturd CP autocross car. So far, no issues and it's been in two years of once-a-month autocrosses on slicks.

Moser seems to have some quality control issues. There appear to be people with great parts and service, but then you hear horror stories. We'll continue using Moser until we see problems.

Thanks Gene. Looks like my 8.8" will have till next year though. Money has gotten tight around the Blanton house. Hopefully my wife will get a job soon...

Ugh, I hope it doesn't last that long. It's been almost 2 here, just things are starting to tighten up...

I was underemployed for like 3 years. Did a lot of part time stuff until a full-time gig came about. It'll happen, you just gotta have faith. Good luck!
