  • Who has a replacement rack they can bring to the reunion?

This is for the Silver State car. The one I have is leaking badly. Maybe I can replace it in the parking lot? It took me like 15 minute to take out last time.

    Ideas?
    Suggestions?
    Am I crazy?

I got the one that came off my 1E.... was nothing wrong with it...
problem ended up being fixed with new rear control arms bushings.

If no one else comes up with one, we can work something out. cause I do like to keep my spare parts

I bought a new rack but the pressure line and return line are both in different locations on the rack.

Do you know what side is the pressure port and what is the return port?
              Does it matter?
The installation instructions don’t say a thing on this.

They had two in the computer at NAPA. One for the “performance suspension”. One”Non-performance”. I bought the “Performance” one and that was the only one in stock out of the two.

              Help.
              Thanks.

Pressure side is a crimped hose. Return side has hose clamps on the hose.

I believe the holes are sized just differently enough to avoid stupidity... but I could be wrong.... if they aren't let me know, I'll go take a pic for you

                    Yea yea yea.
What I'm saying is the new rack port configuration doesn't match up to the one that is on the car. Not too sure about the differant hole sizes. I'll look in to it.

The lines shown in picture #1 are roatated counterclockwise by one port. Thus leaving the two upper ports open for the pressure and return.

So the 2 upper ports is where the lines are connected on rack, in the car.
The upper left is the Pressure and upper right is the return, on the car at least.

If the instruction would say whats what i wouldn't have an issue. Maybe I'm too smart for my own good?

well if it's an 84, it has the TRW rack on it...
if it's an 85 up, that's the right rack, same one that came out of my 86, went back in my 86, and is in my other 86.

I just replaced mine in my early 84. Napa listed three, performance, normal, and trw. The correct one is trw

I have all the parts to convert to manual steering for my car, I could have done the swap at the reunion and given you my old rack.
