  • what 8.8?

Can you get a stock Fox GT 8.8 to swap the stuff over on? I would assume that a full lincoln rear its a 8.8 correct, would swap in.

Will the extra axle length do anything for putting it into the reglar stang 8.8? I dont know if the actuall 7.5 in the SVO is wider or not than normal.

Let me know, I gotta friend thats gettin rid of his cause he put on SN95 stuff onto his 90.

Hi, I have a similar question. I want/need to replace the 7.5 and want to put in an 8.8 w/4.10. The reason I say need is that the differential pin (the big wrist pin that goes through the spider gears NOT the little one) can't be removed! It hits a ring gear tooth no matter which way I spin the differential! Can't even get to the c-clips to pull the axles out and then pull out the differential.

What is needed for this swap? I remember seeing a thread on this some time ago but can't find it now. I'm hoping to be able to re-use my axles from the 7.5 but they may get damaged taking them out. Does anyone make/have this axles any more?

Also, anyone try a torsen differential?

    Thanks,

The FOX 8.8 housing will swap. You can use your stock axles. You'll need to bend some new brake lines. Little more work if you're installing one on a slapper bar equipt (early 84) SVO.

SVObud, how is it different on the early cars? I am planning on doing it to mine this summer. Thanks.

          Slapper Bar cars

I belive the slapper bar cars (SVO & GT) had some sort of bracket welded to the axle housing for the slapper bars to bolt to. THe later 8.8's dont have these.

If that's what SVObud meant, then I don't think I need to worry about it because I will be converting it to the quad shocks setup.

That's what I meant in sorts, mainly you will have to make a modification to the car itself in order to use the 8.8 on an early 84. ie: the mounting point/bolt for the quads.

I have a question for those who have performed the 8.8 swap on a slapper bar car. Did you maintain the slapper set-up or did you go with the quadshocks?
I am currently doing this swap and am torn on which route to take. Part of me wants to keep the slappers because this is what sets the early cars apart from the rest but I assume the quadshock is a better set-up.
Does anyone know the skidpad numbers to compare the 2 ?
Duhhh!!!! Why dont ya put a 5.0 in that car George???

I'd like to know as well, I have a line on a cheap 8.8 out of a TurboCoupe, and the limited slip is shot on my 7.5
