Ok, i'm trying to keep my 86 as original as possible and need to replace the exhaust on it. I want to stick with the 2 1/2" dual exhaust and was wondering if anyone knows a good place to get it. Is there any difference between the SVO exhaust that will cause problems installing it? Thanks!
Christina
The original exhaust diameter it 2 1/4". Regardless, you can use either. The ATR 2 1/2" system is the only thing I have found in that diameter that has a mandrel bent "y" pipe, plus it is stainless steel.
You can get a Dynomax 2 1/4" or 2 1/2" mandrel bent system from some local muffler shops or buy them online from Mustang Unlimited. If you got to dynomax's web site, they have a "find a supplier" search engine to locate one in your area.
If you want it stock, then Walker makes all of the necassary parts. You can get them as well from Mustangs Unlimited.
Hope this helps.

Watch those "NOS Obsolete" sales on Ebay. Some stuff isn't really obsolete and isn't really NOS.
GAboy is correct. Walker and others still have many parts listed for this car. Any NAPA or Autozone lists the exhaust parts as well and you can look them all up in their online stores.
Check what Sacramento Mustang wants for those tailpipes, then see what NAPA or Autozone gets for the same part. You can do all this from in front of your computer(where you are seated right now).
I'll check the websites out. Thanks! It'd be nice to get everything locally rather than waiting for the big brown truck to come to the house!! My mailman is very slow too!! Sac Mustang is just up the road, hopefully they will have reasonable prices for this item.

Can the exhaust from Sacramento Mustang that is not listed under SVO be used? The price for an exhaust from there that is under thier regular mustang listings doesn't seem that bad of a price.

Sac Mustang doesn't carry the SVO exhaust any more. It was listed about a month ago. I just called them the other day. At least with an 86 you have some options. With an 84, I'm limited. Fortunately I was able to located and purchase an 84 ehxhaust. I haven't looked around extensively but it seems most only supply 85-86 and up.
I run the Magnaflow 2 1/2" mandrel bent system for a 86-93 LX 5.0L on my SVO and I love it. Not loud at idle or part throttle... but when you get in to it really good it sounds quite good, even on the little four cylinder. Many people that have heard my car going by even say "it sounds like a V8"
