  • What to expect when visiting this forum.....

I thought I would post a note here for those new to this forum regarding what they can expect from its members. The members on this forum are by large SVO enthusiasts and owners who are interested in preserving the SVO, it's history and sharing information and tips. If you are coming here looking to part out a perfectly good car or looking for SVO parts to install on your Non-SVO then you can expect that there may be some flak generated by your postings....This is simply because SVO owners are passionate about their cars. We as SVO owners face a problem of limited parts availability and being such a low production car have a problem getting parts reproduced for such a small market. We have been faced with people scavenging things like PE computers, wings, side spats, taillights, seats, etc for other Mustangs and Turbo Fords or Turbo projects for years so it is frustrating for an SVO owner when he/she cannot find a replacement part because they have all been taken for other cars/projects. We fully appreciate other Enthusiasts and non-SVO owners projects and will help whenever possible but please take any criticism and suggestions as constructive and not as a flame. Using a Turbo Coupe computer, pinstriping standard 83-86 Taillights for non-SVOs and suggestions against installing a V8 are not designed to flame anyone, rather they are intended to help preserve the SVO and help keep parts available for those who really need them.

We can all understand that there comes a time when some SVOs are destined to be parts cars and that is fine....what we have a problem with is someone buying a car that runs and drives without damage or one that is easily put back on the road and parts it out trying to make a quick buck...those individuals are not doing this hobby any favors and are only reducing the number of restorable cars therefore reducing our chances even more for reproduction parts by making the market even smaller.

This forum is designed to be a friendly forum for SVO enthusiasts and is open to everyone. Unlike some other sites, we do not censor posts because of a difference of opinion however "trolls" will be dealt with accordingly and posts getting out of hand in flame fashion will also be dealt with accordingly.

And as always, we welcome your comments and constructive critcism...

As needed/if needed I will add to this as we go along if concerns or questions arise.....

This forum is designed to be SVO specific, we do have a lounge where anything goes for the most part however we are trying to keep this forum specific to the SVO and SVO related issues(exception being the lounge where you can discuss anything on your mind). The reason for this is simple...1) there are MANY websites on the net that deal with the 2.3 Turbo but few that specifically cater to the SVO enthusiast and none that do so in a family oriented and safe environment; 2) A forum such as this can take up a tremendous amount of bandwidth which can be quite expensive and since MetroNet is gracious enough to donate our webspace, it is only right that we do our share to keep the use of space from being wasted abused and not take advantage of Metronets generosity. We are free to use whatever webspace we like to serve the SVO enthusiast but we also feel it our duty to be courteous and not abuse this privelage. Keeping this site SVO specific also enables the enthusiast to easily search for SVO specific discussions, parts and issues without having to wade through Mustang GT, Ranger, Pinto, Honda or Camaro parts and discussions in a search for their answer or part.

    An example of appropriate topics...

An ad looking for a set of Bullitt Wheels although SVO specific to you if you own an SVO is not really necessary since they did not come on an SVO and are readily available from nearly every Vendor and would be better found on other latemodel GT specific websites....the chances of someone selling a set here are pretty slim and if someone does have a set for sale, then it would be fine to post them for sale here because the wheels can be used on an SVO....it can be a gray area I know but realistically you will find them elsewhere more easily.

It would be appropriate to ask a tech question on "how can I put Bullitt wheels on my SVO?" because that is directly specific to the SVO.

Please use discretion when posting wanted ads, many parts common to other Mustangs can be more easily found on other sites or through vendors. This saves you the time of posting since it would be more easily found elsewhere and helps us save wasted bandwidth. Don't take emails from administrators or moderators regarding questionable posts personally, they are just trying maintain the site and keep it SVO specific.

We had our first "troll"...it was a matter of time...

Well, as expected to be inevitable....we had our first "troll". We are very lenient with this forum and encourage discussion, even heated ones are fine since people can and do disagree at times. However, what will not be tolerated is a new user coming in to our forum on the attack with an aggressive attitude with the only goal of attacking our members(anyone). This is a family based forum and our goal is to keep it a friendly area for everyone to visit for information and friendship....therefore, individuals showing up and going on childish rants will not be tolerated. We recently had exactly this and I even gave that individual a second chance to become an adult and act appropriately...he blew the second chance as well and has been eliminated from this forum.

As lenient as we are, we have our limitations. It is unfortunate that we have to deal with people like this but it is just one of the negative side effects of the internet so occasionally we must "take out the trash".

As time goes on I see the need to update this area periodically. The latest update pertains to the use of threats when advertising a car.....using terminology like "If I don't sell this car in the next 2 weeks, I am going to part it out!" is NOT appropriate behavior on this site or in life in general! Use of threatening sales tactics are only going to scare off potential buyers for your car because they are going to think you are a "yahoo" and are going to NOT want to have any business or financial dealings with you...period.

This is a Positive - Family Oriented site, so a word to the wise....if you want positive response and success with your advertising.... BE POSITIVE and do not use threats in a poor attempt to sell your car based on pity...because you are not going to get any here with that sort of behavior.

This is a SVO SPECIFIC forum. I'm usually not as eloquent as svopaul ... therefore we'll cut straight to the message I'm trying to convey

          If ... you have a car that's NOT a SVO ...

do not post technical questions concerning it.
do not ask 'how to' to put SVO parts on it
do not post 'wanted' classifieds looking for SVO parts so you can put them on your non-SVO car.
do not think asking technical questions about your non-SVO in the Lounge will slide.

If you HAVE SVO parts you're wanting to sell - even though you don't own a SVO, by all means, please post them. SVO owners love to get their parts back ...

This is a SVO SPECIFIC forum (just making sure it's understood).

If you want to know how to turbocharge your 'whatever' (inlcuding a 79-03 Mustang) .. try visiting www.turboford.org or foureyedpride (four cyl related) or www.stangnet.net or www.corral.net or www.turbomustangs.com

            Time for another addition:

This is NOT "Romper Room" as some other sites like to work or allow things...this is not a place to have flame wars for some form of narrow minded entertainment.

This is an adult forum and if someone is banned or given a time-out, it is for a good reason. This is a Drama Free site and we plan to keep it that way which is what makes it different from other forums. This is not a place to play "martyr" and look for sympathy and try to "rally the troops" for your cause.....If you are the unfortunate recipient of disciplinary action then sit back and think why? then contact the administrators to discuss what happened and if done on an adult level then I am sure things can work out. Moving to another forum looking to play "professional victim" or gain support for a whiny cause will only make the action taken here permanent with no chance for reversal.

If someone who is banned turns around and registers again in order to bypass the disciplinary action and cause drama then that banning will be PERMANENT with NO exceptions....that behavior is childish at best and will not be tolerated. We have better things to do than babysit and change diapers.

We have also had to ban users upon registration before they even had a chance to hang around because they ignored the rules and chose a username that was profane and not family oriented. One particular individual likes to claim that he was picked on when in reality he was too ignorant to read the rules and too rude to choose a family friendly name...after all, would you want your kids reading profane and crude usernames?....we don't either.

This is a tightly run ship and as a result we don't have the trolls or flame wars that are rampant on the internet. We are here to talk SVO's and continue the friendships we have built so agendas will be left at the door or the door will be shown quickly to those hosting said agendas.

Something else to add....in the moderation of our forums there is no "censorship" however if personal threats, posts of a profane nature or flame war type posts exist then they WILL be deleted. This is not "censhorship" rather just removing childish posts that have no place on our forum.

We recently had an group of lemming like children come to the forum intent upon creating drama because a banned user felt it necessary to seek an audience elsewhere in pure childish form because he was banned for a profane and threatening post. This group and thier childish posts were deleted simply because we have no use for child-like behavior as we choose to keep the site free of this trash. The same group now in "Romper Room" is claiming "Censorship"....rather funny actually when they fail to tell others thier post was deleted because of it's nature and attitude.....and back to one of the main rules of this forum...This is for SVO and SVO Related material and is NOT a playground for a bunch of children to run amok and post questionable material and trashy posts.

"IF" there comes a time that you have a problem or issue regarding a topic, use the PM feature and contact an administrator....seeking a public audience for any negative reason will be dealt with swiftly.
